Dr. Anup Polley is a prominent essayist and researcher. Dr. Polley's subject of interest is 'Indian Music and Drama Culture'. Being engaged in academic contemplation (Saraswata Sadhana) he came to teach history after leaving the government job. Dr. Polley obtained his Doctorate degree researching under the supervision of Professor Dr. Syed Tanveer Nasreen, Head, Department of History of the University of Burdwan and former Director of Indian Cultural Center, Maldives. The title of the research topic was 'Membranophonic Music and Its performers in North India: 15th-17th Century'. Dr. Anup Polley is currently working as an Associate Professor in the Department of History, Katwa College. He is a member of the Executive Committee of the West Bengal History Council (Paschimbanga Itihas Samad) and the Corpus Research Institute, Kolkata. Besides, he is associated with Institute of Historical Studies and Bangiya Sahitya Parishad as life member. His multi-dimensional historiography is known from some research papers and published works in the last few years.
